How do I fund my CMC Markets account?
You can fund your account with CAD or USD.

Note: Daily cut-off time is 11am EST. Payments after this time will process the next business day. The timeframe is also subject to normal system checks. Any third-party payments will be rejected.

Do I need to deposit funds to activate my account?
You can sign in to your account as soon as your application has been processed and you have verified your account (a verification link will be sent to your registered email address).
However, you can’t place a trade without sufficient funds in your account to open a position. If you’d prefer to test trading strategies in a risk-free environment, our free demo account allows you to practise trading with virtual funds.
How much should I deposit?
There is no minimum deposit requirement. However, you cannot place or maintain a trade without sufficient funds. Consult the "Product Overview" on the CMC platform to check the required margin for the instrument you wish to trade.
Can a third party fund my account?
Payments from third-party sources will be rejected. Please only add funds to your account using a card or bank account that is registered in your name.
Can I deposit/withdraw USD to/from a CAD Account?
If you have a USD bank account, we suggest opening a USD trading account to avoid conversion fees. If you’re funding USD-denominated assets on a CAD account, you may incur FX merchant fees which depends on your card provider or bank, and vice versa.
What cards do you accept?
We accept credit cards issued by Mastercard and Visa. To ensure the security of our transactions, we are unable to accept prepaid cards. These cards can be funded by multiple sources, making it difficult to verify the origin of the funds and increasing the potential for fraud.
What Is 3D Secure?
3D Secure is an added layer of security to prevent fraud when making card payments online. If you are enrolled in 3D Secure, you will be directed to your bank’s verification page when making a card deposit.
Why can I not select a card?
If you have not funded your account with a registered card within the last 12 months, or if your card has expired, we will be unable to transfer your funds back to that card.
Will you ever ask for my card details via text/call/email?

My card is expired, how do I add another one?
If your card is expired, please give us a call at +1-866-884-2608 and we will be happy to remove the expired card for you.
What happens if my card is lost, damaged or stolen?
For your safety, it is crucial to immediately contact your bank or card issuer to block the card.
Please also email us at [email protected] or call us at +1-866-884-2608, we will remove the relevant card(s) from your account.
What happens if my bank card is lost, damaged or stolen?
We cannot transfer funds to your card if you have not funded your CMC Markets account with a registered card within the last 12 months, or if your card has expired. In these cases, your withdrawal limit may show as $0. However, you may still be able to withdraw funds to your registered bank account.
